Computer Graphics (Instructor: Adina Cahn or Leah Rubin)
This 80 hrs. course will allow students to master the Adobe programs; Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Students will harness the power of these programs to produce state-of-the-art documents and graphics. Clear step-by-step instruction and demonstration will be reinforced with regular homework assignments, quizzes and tests to ensure all students understand the material. A tutor will be available via email or phone in between classes for tutorial assistance. This course is geared to the beginner, and for those who have some graphic design skills.
This course has become world renowned for its comprehensive coverage of the software giving the students confidence and top notch technical skills to progress to a graphic design career.

Graphic Design  (Instructor: Zippy Thumim)
In this course the fundamental topics of graphic design, including composition, color, and in-depth typography will be covered. Students will receive comprehensive instruction in the areas of corporate design, book covers, magazine layout, brochure design, advertising, packaging and prepress management. After the lessons, students will be expected to complete project-based assignments and will receive feedback and constructive criticism during the next class. This course is geared to the beginner, as well as those who have some previous experience in graphic design.

The Mini-Course  (Instructor: Chaya Murik or Mirel Goldwasser)
This 12 week course is ideal for students who wish to achieve a solid grounding in the basic elements of graphics, without committing themselves to an intensive year of study. There is particular emphasis on brainstorming, research, and marketing. This learning experience enables students to become independent graphic designers with a clear understanding of marketing through print media. At the end of this project-based course, the student will have achieved basic proficiency in the Adobe programs together with a clear grasp of the design principles and 3-4 portfolio pieces of work. Students choose this course as an alternative to the 2 courses above and is a popular course used as preparation for the Web Design course.

Preparation for Print (Instructor: Zippy Thumim)
Learn the technicalities of preparing a job for print in this short but intensive course, where we cover all aspects and the complete process of pre-press and print production, spot colors, (metallic) embossing, spot lamination, trouble-shooting and more. This course is part of our one-year intensive Graphic Design course including Computer Graphics and Graphic Design but any students may join this course.

STAFF
Zippy Thumim: Course Director and Design Instructor
Zippy Thumim is a graphic designer with over 18 years' experience in the graphic design field. She trained in a London Design School for 3 years of full-time study and has continued her education gaining a Bachelors Degree. She runs a successful freelance Graphic Design business and is well known for her book jacket designs and layout work for publishers such as Feldheim, Targum, Hamodia, Oz Vehodor and Israel Bookshop. She has been teaching Graphic Design for over 14 years in different schools on a variety of courses. She is now directing Design Alive to provide the best possible internet-based courses for tomorrow’s designers. Well-known in the field, clients constantly are in touch with her to recommend students for potential jobs.

Adina Cahn: Computer Graphics Instructor (Israel course)
Adina trained at a Jerusalem school of computing gaining a diploma in Graphic Design. She has a freelance graphic design practice for the past few years. In her experience teaching the Adobe Creative Suite, she has become well-known for her clear, easy-to-understand, structured teaching methods.

Leah Rubin:  Computer Graphics Instructor  (US course)
Leah has been teaching computer graphics courses for over 8 years. She has also been a yearbook advisor for 4 award-winning yearbooks. In addition to teaching, Leah runs a graphic and web design business out of her home. She holds degrees from the International Academy of Design and Technology and American Intercontinental University in Interactive Media and Digital Design.

Chaya Murik (Kaufman): Design Instructor- The Mini Course (Israel)
Chaya studied Design and Marketing at Manchester College of Arts and Technology achieving one of the top five marks in the country. She worked as a Senior Graphic Designer in the marketing department of Oorah, an international non-profit organization and now designs magazines, logos and other print media. Chaya has given of her expertise to many students including conferences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and co-founded Professional Standard School of Design in Lakewood, NJ.

Mirel Goldwasser Design Instructor- The Mini Course (US)
Mirel Goldwasser is Founder of Oomph Creative. Her philosophy is that businesses can make more money through successful and innovative print design. With Marketing as her emphasis, Mirel knows just what will make a buzz. Mirel's teaching philosophy is to have fun, teach through direction and let each student excel through their unique point of view. Mirel's years marketing and designing for companies like RCCS, Golden Fluff, Oorah, ATIME and other companies large and small will be valuable to your learning experience. As Founder of Fiveish and the Cucumber Ribbons as well as the Guru behind Go GaGa!, students will come to develop a unique creativity that will be evident in their print work.
